On Tuesday evening the usual weekly flag tournament was held in tho hall ■with an excellent attendance. The winners proved to bo Miss J. Hearsay, and Messrs. S. Rowland and G. Straughn, while the consolation prizes went Mo Miss J. Ferguson and Messrs. H. Morgan and Taylor. During tho evening Mrs. and Mr. Amadio obliged the company with two' vocal ducts. After supper had been served, the hall rvas cleared for dancing, the music being supplied by Mrs. Amadio and Misses E. Jeffrey and M. Rowland. The infants at the local school have just concluded their half-yearly visits to tho dental clinic at College street school,: Palmerston North. Owing to lack of support the school children arc not entering for the Calf Club competition this year, but five have entered for the mangel growing competition. The proficiency examination takes place on December 6 at Longburn school, and the school breaks up for the Christmas holidays on December 16. Ensilago making is in full sowing just now and farmers arc working long hours to get in while the good weather lasts.
