From. Our Own Correspondent. A meeting of the recently-formed a platform erected for tho occasion, held on Tuesday evening for tho purpose of electing officers and making arrangements for raising money. There wore present: Rev. Mr. Berry, Mr. J. i'. Nolan, Mrs. N. Bower, Mrs. E. J. Arnott, Mrs. J. F. Nolan, Mrs. W. J. Davis, Mrs. S. Wood, Mrs. H. V. oavurhill, Misses -R., L. and N. Davis. Apologies for absenco were received from Mr. H. V. Cavcrhill and Miss Jill Bower. Tho election of officers resulted as 'follows: —President, Rev. Mr. Berry; vice-president, Mr. H. V. Caverhill; secretary and treasurer, Miss Jill Bower.
Mrs. Cavcrhill reported that Mrs. A. J. Will had olferod her grounds for a garden party. It was decided to noict tho garden party on January 5 and all arrangements wero. made for same. A competition is to be held for the best collection of homo-made sweets. Tho secretary was instructed to write .to Mrs. Will thanking her for her offer and to extend an invitation to Mr. Stubbs and Mr. Callus, of Palmerston North, to bo present on January 5.
Tho Methodist Church was crowded at all three services on Sunday, when the Sunday School anniversary was held. The building was prettily decorated by members of tho Bible classes, and made a pleasing setting for the 71) scholars, with their teachers, seated on at platform erected for tho occasjon. Mr. J. C. Glover has for many years trained tho children, and again this year the singing was of a very high standard. Miss I)ennett presided at the organ. Pastor C. G. 11. Bycroft was tho preacher.
