Relieving Distress in Feilding

MEETING OF THE COMMITTEE As a matter of policy the Feilding Relief of Distress Committee has decided that the clothing donated for the needy will be issued only to bona fide residents of the town and district. Itinerant travellers will not be supplied from the depot. The committee appoals for the lo|n of one or two sewing machines to enable the work of patching and altering garments to be facilitated. Any ladies who cannot attend the sewing parties and who would- be happy to undertake work in their own homes arc invited to apply to Mrs.. <T. E. Barltrop for a parcel of work.'' The sewing committee set up includes Mrs. Barltrop as convener and Mesdames Andrews, Billman, G. Bridge, G. J. Fitzpatrick, Miilen, Spence and Sporie, and Miss Watt, with one or two ladies to be nominated by the unemployed. The first sewing meeting will bo held on Wednesday. A gift of a large wicker basket from Mr. Bryant was gratefully acknowledged, and. it was decided to use the proceeds from the sale of this .-gift for the purchaso of food. t .4 The committee’s limited fundswill not last beyond a fortnight, and it was decided to arrange a Paddy’s market and to ask local ladies to arrange for a dance in aid of the food fund.
