FROM THE HUB
Dear Cogs, Are you counting your blessings vri§h. all these day's of golden sunshine in your holidays, and such jolly things to do? It is a very happy family this week, judging by ail the letters tolling me of busy doings. And, dears, wo have ever so many new Cogs to welcome to the big circle, so send the cheery greetings right round the big circle. I want names and addresses of all those who are waiting for badges before I send out any more, as letters have been returned through the post again this week. That makes bother all round, so do be careful. Make the most of these golden hours, then what refreshed and enthusiastic people you will be when you start off to school again next week. Love from your friend, THE HUB. Palmerston North. Dear Hub, —I have not done so well tn the examinations, tho papers were all very long. I thought perhaps you would net remember about that bird because you have so many things to remember, Well, it is a bird that sings at intervals all day. It has a very rich note, and Mother thinks it might be a tui, although I think it is a lark of some sort. Another one sings near tho High School and I hear it all the time I am in school. As it is getting colder at nights now I have to put Pet's cover on, and I have found that she has grown quite a lot, though I didn’t think she had. I had to let out both straps about four holes. "W e had our Anzac service on Priday beeause lots of girls couldn’t get in on Monday from tho country. Mr Brown camo down to speak, to us. I have only ten pigeons now, as my oldest cock got sick and died. I think he had indigestion. We heard the carillon bells over the wireless yesterday but I think the microphone must have been too close to the tower to get tho full benefit of the tunes. The “Bells of St. Mary’s” was the best. I have changed from basketball to hockey this year, and I like it betteT. As this is all the news I will close now. Love from Arawa. This must have been the letter you meant, Arawa. It was hiding in a cornea". I must ask Mr Stevens about that bird. The magpies have lovely rich notes. Pet must bo a real pet I am sure. I hope to hear these bells before long. Kimbolton. Dear Hub, —I hope you are well. We went to football last Saturday. We have been having a few showers of rain. I like reading the Cog page. We went to town last night. I have solved the Skilltest which I hope is correct, I am sending in somo jokes an dhope you will enjoy them. My sisters have gone away for a holiday. I went up to get the mail. Peter, my cat, is very good friends with the kitten. We went to a Women’s Institute birthday party the other night. I must close now with love from Dulcie. Thank you for the jokes, dear. You will miss your sisters, but what lots of news they will have to toll you when they return. I would like to see Peter and the kitten.
