Prompted by a desire to save most of the £7OO a year which it has been paying annually in insurance premiums on policies covering county workmen and plant, the Piako County Council has decided to carry its own insurances in future, and to meet claims out of the general fund. The _chairman explained that the Raglan County Council had been carrying its own insurance for the past 13 years and, as a result, had saved, so it was considered, between £SOOO and £OOOO.
