Wedding in Rhodesia
BRIDE AND BRIDEGROOM TRAVEL BY AIR. HODDINOTT—GILBERT. St. Cufchbcrt’s Church, Gwcio, Southern Rhodesia, was crowded on Saturday, March 5, when tho wedding took place of Aliss Mollie Gilbert, of Gwcio, and Air Jack .Hoddinott, of tho B.S.A. Police, Quo Quo, son of Airs J. Candy, of Palmerston North. Tho Rev. Lionel Bell officiated. Tho bride, looked extremely pretty it! an anklo length white satin gown and Brussels lace veil, with a neat, spray of orange blossom; her bouquet being of pink roses. As bridesmaid was Miss Hazel Putter, wearing a charming frock of pink crepe de chine and pink crino-line-with lacc hat, to match and a bouquet, at' La France roses. Air E. A. Streeter, of the B.S.A. Police, Gwcio, acted ns Dost. man. After tho ceremony tho guests motored to the house of Air and Airs Chisnall, where the reception wa.s held. A line collection of presents was on view and. together with the attendance of at least eighty friends, proved the great popularity of the couple. Later Air and Mrs Hoddinott left for Bulawayo and the Victoria Falls, by aeroplane, pilotod by Captain Douglas Mail, the bride dropping her bouquet from the ’plane on leaving to the friends who had gathered to witness her departure. This is believed to be the first occasion in South Africa that- a honeymoon couple bas left by air. Afr and Airs Hoddinott are very well known, both in Gwcio and Que Quo, and their many friends at those centres wished them every happiness and success at Alazoe, where they arc making their new home.
