Miss M. Tanner, of Dannevirkc, is visiting Palmerston North as the guestof Mrs. T. Sutherland. Miss Shirtcliffe, Hant Street, Timaru, is oa a visit to her sister, Mrs J. M. Buie, “Nonholme.’ ’ Ballancc. Mrs H. J. Un-win, Ballancc, is the guest of Mr and Mrs H. Mansford at Kotenga Street, Wellington, Miss Anderson (matron) • and Miss Pearco (sub-matron) resumed their duties at the Willard Home yesterday. Miss E. Clarke, of College street, left last evening for Rotorua, where it is hoped that the change will benefit her health. Mrs Arthur Shirtcliffe, of “Ilighfield,” Timaru, is visiting relatives at Ballancc, and is the guest of Mr and Mrs ,T, At. Rule. Mrs Arthur Martin, of James Line, Kelvin Grove, who has been visiting her relatives, -Mr and Mrs J. AT. Rule, Ballancc, has now returned home. Mrs. Howard Paul, Hataitai, who has been staying with Airs. It. L. Campbell Aitchisou, Victoria avenue, Palmerston North, has returned to Wellington. A very delightful impromptu dance took place in Miss Gwen Gibbs’s studio on Saturday evening. A number of people were present and spent a very enjoyable time.

Miss Betty Herbert and Miss Joyce Nathan, of Wellington, and Miss Betty Wilson, of Wanganui, arc the guests of Air. and Airs. C. Louisson, North street, for the races. The engagement is announced in an exchange of Nancy Winifred, younger daughter of Afr aud Airs John Brice, * ‘ Itosebank, ” Pern Flats, Marton, to Janies Alexander Hall, only son of Dr. W. S. E, Dick, Wellington Road, Alarton, and the late Airs Dick. Arrangements for the celebration of anniversary day on Alay 25 were discussed by the Willard Home Board of Management on Alonday, and the suggestion was advanced for consideration by the Women’s Christian Temperance Union that it would be a fitting occasion for the unveiling of a memorial tablet to the late Airs. E. H. Crabb, also the unveiling of cot tablets to be placed in the Home in memory of the late Air. J. Balsillie. Very pleasant arrangements have been made for the committee dance in aid of All Saints’ Vicarage to be held ill the P.D.C. ballroom this evening, and it is anticipated that there -will be a record attendance. Members of the Ladies’ Guild will be responsible for the supper, and Air. Gus Large s Aces will provide the latest dance music, while card tables have been arranged for tho non-dancers so, that everything possiblo lias been done to make the evening enjoyable.

A surprise party was lendcTcd Mr sind Mrs E. W. George, of Fcatherstonc Street, who were recently married, by old boys of 'Scots College on Friday, .when a very pleasant time was spent in dances and games. The company numbered some 20 young people and at a suitablo juncture the opportunity was taken by Mr C. I’limmer, secretary of the Old Boys' Association in Palmerston North, to present Mr and Mrs George with a gift as a token of the esteom in which they arc hold and wished them happiness in the future.

Y. "Woodward) in his report to the annual meeting of All Saints’ parishioners last evening. “To the retiring treasurer, Airs. Bidden .Jones,” the speaker continued, "wc owe a word of thanks for the capable and thorough way in which she has kept care of the accounts.”

There was a combined Young Women's and Young Aten’s Bible Class rally' at Cuba Street Methodist Church on Sunday afternoon, there being an attendance of about 100 members. ,M r A. J. McLeavcy presided and the time was chiefly occupied with reminiscences of Easter Camps at Woodvillc, Napier, Hastings and Marton. Following the general meeting, about eighty sat down to tea, ■ Rev. J. D. AfcArthur presiding over this function. Rev. A. N. Scotter, who was present, was welcomed to his first Bible class function in the Manawatu.
