Magistrate's Court

BY-LAW AND OTHER BREACHES. Mr. J. L. Stout, S.M., presided over tho regular sitting of tho Palmerston North Magistrate’s Court yesterday. For cycling after dark without a light, P. Boggs, who appeared voluntarily, was fined 19s, with 3s costs. Negligent driving of a car at the intersection of Church and Fitzroy streets on April 2 was admitted by R. H. Fraser, who was lined 412, with costs. It was stated that defendant’s car had struck the rear of another through excessive speed causing it to swing out too far when turning lac corner.

Tho use of unattended hoses during a. period when restrictions wero in force cost F. Raven, C. Ncilscn, G. Wilton and N. Millar 10s each, with JOs costs. R. E. Harrison, for a similar offence, was fined £2, with a further £5 for using water for a purpose for which a meter was required. Use of a prohibited attachment cost D. Smillie 10s, with 10s costs.

Breaches of tho city building by-laws cost the following £l, with 10s costs, on each charge: 11. M. Gerties (three charges), E. D. Weir (one charge), U. N. Wallis (one charge) and G. O. Hansen (one charge). U. Taylor, for having erected a building without having first obtained a permit, was lined £2, with 10s costs.
