TWO MEN REMANDED FOR REPORT. Pleas of guilty were entered by George Smith, aged 19, a salesman, and Clifford George Bush, aged 27, a labourer, when charged before Mr. J. L. Stout, S.M., at the Palmerston North Magistrate’s Court yesterday with the attempted theft, at Bunnythorpo on April 17, of three gallons of benzine, of a value of 6s 3d, the property of George Pinfold. Senior-Sergeant Whitehousc said that accused had been seen in the act of syphoning benzine from a car into a tin, which later was found to have three gallons in it. They had been chased and apprehended. Saying that it was difficult to know what to do with accused, the Magistrate remanded them until to-morrow to enable a report to be received from the probation officer.
