Cash Cyclists Open Road Season
SHOET EACE UNDER IDEAL CONDITIONS. Saturday marked the opening of the road season for the district cash cyclists and was attended by ideal weather conditions. Tho riders who faced the starter made good time over a short course of 131 miles. The original route was changed for a shorter one, and fresh handicaps were issued. The course was from the Grand hotel along Botanical road to Boundary road, down Karero road to Foxton road and back to tho starting point. Gandcrton and Collins together rode well the whole journey, linishing first and second respectively with barely a length between them. Jennings (1 min.) and Jeffries (2 min.) also rode well, finishing very close together in the very creditable time of 30 min. 2 sec. The race, which carries points for club members only in the Boucher Cup series, resulted as follows: — A. Gandcrton (3 min.), 31 min. 7sec. 3 W. Collins (3 min.), 31 min. 7 3-5 sec “ C. Jennings (1 min.), 30 min. 2 sec. J A. L. Jeffries (2 min.), 31 min. 2 1-5 sec 1 Also started: A Jones (0 min.) and W. Smith (5 min.) Tho next race by this club will be staged in a fortnight’s time over tec same course. A meeting held over the week-end was largely attended by members and was presided over by Air. \Y. Collins. Air. Ashley Jeffries, the winner of the track scries, was presented with the Boucher track cup, which he will hold for ono year, and Air. Jack Christensen (the runner-up) also received a silver medal in recognition of Ms effort to capture tho cup. Ollier general business was transacted.
