Pretty Cuffs for Horae Made Gowns

Ono of the prettiest dress cuffs of the season is merely a length of pleated material put round the edge of the sleeve and continued up tho side to simulate a broad cavalier cuff. But the frill is not put in at tho sleeve seam, because this would bring it too far under the arm. A second slit must be - cut up each sleeve at least three inches further to the outside, and continued if desired, almost as far as tho elbow. Close the opening with press fasteners, : and add a line of small buttons for the sake of additional ornament. When the gown is flimsy material, a most effcctivo hanging cuff may bo made from a circle of georgette or ninon, with a slit made from the circumference to the centre. Join tho sides of the slit to the edge of the sleeve, crossing the remaining material at the top. Picot-edged, this cuff makes a very attractive -finish. The handkerchief cuff, with a small circle cut out of the centre to take the sleeve edge, looks smart on a frock of plain woollen material, especially when another handkerchief is cut to form a little Eton collar. Hemstitched linen is best for this purpose. A clever way of simulating an elbow cuff is by means of a diamond-shaped piece of the fabric attached point-wise just above the elbow. The two adjacent sides are stitched to tho sleeve, and the other two sides stand away, and give the impression of belonging to an elbow sleeve above a long one.
