Interesting Wedding at All Saints'

EWART—MATHE SON. A quiet but very pretty wedding, attracting much interest in both North and South Islands was celebrated at All Saints’ Church, Palmerston North, yesterday afternoon when Miss Ada Alison May Matheson, only daughter of Mr. A. C. Matheson, of Dunedin, was married to Dr. lan Brandon Ewart, cnly son of Dr. John Ewart and the late Mrs. Ewart, of Wellington. The church had been decorated most effectively iu shades of gold and bronze by the girl friends oi’ the bride. The altar had brass vases of zinnias, cannas, and dahlias in orange and tawny shades, while the choir stalls were decorated m beautiful autumn tones. Rev. Canon Woodward performed the marriage service and Mr. J. Holmes Runnielcs played the wedding music. Mr. Mutneson gave his daughter away, and she made a very charming bride in hor beauiful gown of deep ivory satin beaute made ou long slim lines. Tho swathed, close fitting bodice was cut to a deep point over one hip and had a slightly cowled neckline while the sleeves wero closefitting and pointed over tho hands, the only trimming being buttons of tiny pearls up the sleeve to the elbow. Small tucks indicated tho waistline, the long lines of the skirt forming a graceful train at tho back. Her wedding veil was of beautiful old ivory lace lent by Mrs. L. A. Abraham and was hold by a wreath of tiny orange blossom at the back of lier head, falling in soft folds to a point at the edge of her train. Deep ivory shoes and stockings and a short string of pearls completed a strikingly lovely toilette, and sue carried a sheaf of deep cream gladioli, begonias and roses with maiden hair fern held with soft cream satin ribbon. Miss Matheson was attended by Miss Molly Goldingham, who wore a very attractive frock of jade green lace and georgette cut on long graceful lines, with godets of georgette in the skirt. Epaulettes of georgette formed a deep V at the back held at tho waistline with a lovely old buefile of pearls and diamante. Her Robin Hood hat was Oi felt with loops of velvet exactly the same shade as her frock and shoes and slie carried a sheaf of gladioli, roses and begonias in autumn shades. Mr. Douglas Young, of Wellington, attended Dr. Ewart as best man.

After tho ceremony a small reception p-as held at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Pascal where floral dtcoraticns in tho house and marquee were all to tone in shades of gold and sunset. Mr. and Mrs. Matheson received their guests in the hall, Mrs. Matneson wearing a most becoming frock of bc-ige lace made with back and front pancl-cifect and two deep flounces at tho sides, the waist finished with narrow golden brown velvet, while the coatee had the new ripple basque. Her picture hat of beige felt had a big chou of golden brown velvet matching the shade of her shoes. She carried a posy of tawny shaded roses, helium and begonias in golden browns. The guests included: Donald Mathesen, brother of the bride; Mrs. G.JJingham (Bairlie), sister of the bridegroom, whose frock was a navy blue crepe-de-chine with white, and small navy hat with white feather mount; Miss D. Ewart sister of the bridegroom, who wore a frock of dull red georgette with coffee lace and a black hat with touches of red; Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Pascal, tho latter (aunt of the bride), wearing a beautiful frock of Parma violet georgette and shadow lace with smart black felt hat; she had a posy of shaded pink flowers. Miss E. MacLcnnan, aunt of the bride, wore a handsome gown of deep wine-shado embossod ring velvet and hat of black lace straw with osprey. Her posy was of autumn tinted flowers and waves. Miss J. Ewart (Auckland;, aunt of the bridegroom, wore a becoming frock ol blue floral georgette with coatee to match and black hat with feather mount. Dr. and Mrs. W. Ewart (Wellington), the latter wearing a smart ensemble of biack satin marocain, the coateo opening over blouse of apricot georgette. With this she wore a largo black hat with osprey mount and an cimine stole and carried a posy of crimson roses. Miss Hilda Matheson (Melbourne), cousin of the bride, ensemble of blue georgette with bluo hat; Mr. and Mrs. V. E. Harman and Miss Harman; Mr. and Mrs. H. It Cooper; Mr .and Mrs. J. P. Mcxtaej Mr. and .Mrs. Bred Streeter (Wellington); Dr. and Mrs. Alister Young (Wellington); Mr., Mrs. and Miss (Jot-tc-rill (Dunedin); Mrs. Glendinning (Auckland); Canon and Mrs. Woodward; Mrs. Bergus (Dunedin); Misses McGregor (Wellington); Mr. and Mrs, I, A. Abraham and Miss P. Abraham; Mrs. B. Ashworth (Castle Point); Mr. and Mrs. W. G. Lyons; Mr. and Mrs. J. Hope Johnston; Dr. and Mrs. JZohrab (Wellington); Misses MacDonald; Miss M. Guy; Mr. Donald Webster (Wellington) and Jim Harman. In tho drawing-room and hall large bowls of sunset and gold dahlias and gladioli shading to deepest cream carried out the general colour scheme, and the bride and bridegroom stood beneath a beautiful bell of gladioli and maidenhair fern to receive tho good wishes of their friends. In the marquee where the toast of the bride and bridegioom was proposed by Mr. L. A. Abraham, palm fronds and bracken combined with green hydrangeas, autumn tinted berries and raupo to form an effective background for the bridal party. Large bowls of dahlias and hydrangeas stood at tho entrance and the tables were done with carnations and polyanthus roses and gcrberas in sunset colouring, while the open sides of the marquee showed the green lawns and tree-shaded borders gay with multi-coloured flowers.
