Canada’s “Wheat King”

Herman Trelle —pronounced Trolley—< who has a farm of 1000 acres in Canada, half of it in crop, 600 miles north of the United States, boundary, and so far north that his land drains into the Arctic Ocean, looks like a successful young business man rather than a farmer. Nevertheless, in winning for the third time, and permanently, the International Wheat Cup, Mr. Trelle has accomplished a feat equalled by no other man.

Mr. Trelle won his high honours ax the International Livestock Hay and Grain ' Exhibition at Chicago, where, first in 1926 and again in 1930, his wheat took first place. His fields are divided between Durum and hard red spring, and the long summer days of bright sunshine bring wheat there to unrivalled perfection. The “Wheat King" was gassed and wounded serving with the Canadian forces in the Great War, and went north on his return because of a tubercular infection. In the Peace Kiver he has found health, and the opportunity of rendering his country another great service.
