SPLENDID ENTRIES IN ALL SECTIONS

Entries for all sections at tlio Marton District A. and P. Association’s annual show at Marton park have closed, and a generous response has been received from breeders of horses, cattle, sheep, pigs and dogs. In the sheep section are -ba pens of purebred sheep and fat sheep and lambs, while in the cattle section there are S 9 entries, in which Jerseys and grade Jerseys take a very prominent position. The calf rearing competition has attracted an entry, of 24 calves. Pigs will form a big attraction at the show, purebred Tamworths, Berkshires, Large Blacks, Large Whites and baconers requiring 103 pens, and most of the leading breeders will be represented. Sheep dogs have drawn an entry, of 24. Ponies and light horses ape up to the usual standard, with several thoroughbreds, and fair competition .in the draught classes. The competitions, as usual, havo attracted good fields, the entries in the pony and hunters’ jumping competitions including some of the best jumpers on the coast. The home industries, sewing and art needlework classes have filled well, and the schools section has been well patronised by the schools in the district, thoro being 248 entries. Entries for the fruit and vegetables section will bo received at St. Andrew’s hall on the morning of the show, February 24, up to 9 o’clock.
