Cricket Championships In the Balance

INTERESTING GAMES AT SPORTSGROUND TO-DAY Tho Manawatu Cricket Association's sonior championship has reached an interesting stage, and tho match between Palmerston, who carried off the honours last season, and United, which commences on the No. 1 wicket to-day, will have an important bearing on the championship. The competition is now in tho third round and, as the issue lies between the ralmcrston and United teams, which have secured ‘the same number of points to date, this gamo will attract a deal of interest. The other Kcnior game is between Old Boys and High School. Junior Championship in the Balance In the junior competition Y.M.C.A. (32 points) meet Old Boys (31J points), and a big-scoring game should result. Palmerston aro third on the list, and City Council fourth, and these teams also meet at the Sportsground, while High School meet Kia Toa at Terrace End park. Tho third grade games are: Kia Ora v. Primary Schools at Terrace End, Albion v. Technical at the Sportsground, and Gordon v. Phoenix at. tho High School ground.

TEAMS FOR TO-DAY The Technical third grade team tn play AlTiion to-day will be: Dredge (captain), Bradley, Russell,, Long, Nicholson, Pope, Essex, Watson, Kilgour, Free, Gardner, Levy, McQueen, Barrett. AUCKLAND TEAM TO MEET SOUTH AFRICANS The selectors of the Auckland Cricket Association, Messrs. N. C. Sneddon, W. B. Smith and H. Duncan, have chosen the following team to represent Auckland in the match against the South Africans, commencing at Eden park next Tuesday: G. L. Weir, J. E. Mills, A. J. Postlcs, C. F. W. Allcott, F. W. Bycrlcy, R. W. Rowntree, H. G. Vivian, A. W. McCoy, D. C. Cleverley, A. M. Matheson and R. E. Frater. T. Lyon has been chosen as twelfth man. G. L. Weir will captain tho side.
