Suppressing Revolt
SFANISH GOVERNMENT REGAINING CONTROL. United Press Association. —By Electric Telegraph. —Copyright. MADRID, Jan. 22. While the Government forces are steadily suppressing the revolt in Catalonia, a now outbreak has occurred in the South. A strike has been declared at Malaga. The strikers damaged the railways, temporarily blocking the traffic of reinforcement scut from Saragossa, where the revolutionaries attempted to blow up three churches. Tho military have regained control at Manresa and have ordered the summary shooting of persons carrying arms. The railway between Barcelona and Manresa has been, dynamited. Bilboa Insurrection TWO PROMINENT MEN ARRESTED. SURRENDER OF REBELS MADRID, Jan. 22. It is officially stated that the rebels at Berga, Manrest, Figols and Sallento have surrendered. A Bilbao banker, Jose Urquiao, and Count Zubira have been arrested on suspicion of directing the financing of the recent disorders. More Serious Disturbances Received Sunday, 9.50 p.m. GIBRALTAR, Jan. 22. Serious Communist disturbances have occurred at Malaga. There were many casualties. The streets have been occupied by troops with machine guns. Barcelona is dominated by mobile shock police driving armoured cars equipped with machine guns. Two hundred anarchists have been deported to the Canary Islands.
