The Ashhuxst-Pohangina Racing Club’s annual meeting was held yesterday in fine though windy weather. The course was in good order and there was a large attendance cf the public, patrons witnessing some interesting racing with a number of exciting finishes.
The Ashhurst Cup was won by Mr. D. Lourie’s Feilding-trained Grand Jury, which came with a nice run to beat Mr. J. Sullivan’s Arajean by a good length. The Pohangina Handicap was annexed by the Hastings owned and trained Cuticle, Acora and Arikinui. being in the places.
The totalisator handled £7140 during the day as against £10,850 last year, the decrease being £3710.
