Stanway
Tenuis. A match between teams from Stanway and Kakariki schools was played at the local court on Saturday afternoon. The weather was warm and sunny and a very happy time was spent by the children, all of whom thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon’s sport, hollowing the match which was won by the borne team, Mrs. Turner (mistress of the Stanway school) expressed t e pleasure felt by her pupils at the visit of those of the Kakariki school on whose behalf Mr. H. Blunden replied. Afternoon tea was served m the had. Details of the match are as follow,! Kakariki players being mentioned lirst: Combined doubles: Joan Hogg and Leonard Eewai lost to Joan and Teddy Dermcr 17—21; Kitty Ashton and Listed Blunden lost to Dorothy Callmgham and Ken Parsons 20—22; Margaret and Philip Mason lost to Nola Jefferies and Billy Cole 14—21; Hazel Congreve and Phyllis Blunden lost to Jean-Groves and Errol Craine 18—21. Singles: Joan Hogg lost to Joan Dermer 14 —21; Leonard Eewai lost to Teddy Dermor 9 —21; Kitty Ashton defeated Dorothy Callingham 21—18; Elsted Blunden lost to Ken Parsons 17 feries 14—31; Philip Mason lost to Billy Cole 9—21; Hazel Congreve lost to Jean Groves fi—2l; Phyllis Blunden lost to Errol Craine 16—21
