Enjoyable Afternoon Party at Colyton
On Thursday afternoon, Mrs Bruce McLeod entertained a largo patty of friends at her home “Totaranui” Oolyton at an afternoon given in honour of Miss Myra Smith, who leaves Colyton shortly to join the nursing staff of the Karitane Hospital, Wellington. The guests were entertained in tne drawing room which was fragrant with bowls of beautiful violets and mauve anemones. Mrs McLeod received in a pretty gown of black georgette and lace. Miss Smith wore a smart ensemble of red flecked tweed with black velvet berctta. During the afternoon songs were contributed by Mrs G. Parker, Miss Symons, Miss Viles, Miss Linklater and Miss Brown and were much appreciated by all. A competition caused much interest and was won by Miss Dawson, who was made the recipient of a dainty little trophy, Mrs 0. Laughton receiving the consolation prize. A very dainty afternoon tea was dispensed after which Miss Joan Cousins on behalf of ail present, presented Miss Smith with a beautiful gold bedroom clock, conveying to her, the good wishes of her many friends, and success in her new vocation Miss Smith suitably replied. Symons, K. Linklater, P. J. Cousins, M. Brown, W. Dawson and M. McLeod.
