(From Our Own Correspondent.) Apiti Lodge M.U. The fortnightly euchre and dance was held in tho Oddfellows’ hall last Thursday evening, thero being a good attendance in spite of weather conditions. The prize winners were: — Ladies: Mrs. A. R. McNae 1, Miss S. Nix 2; men. Mr. J. Cawood 1, Mr. P. O'Hagen 2. On Friday evening tho Oddfellows' Lodge held an evening in honour of Mr. J. Elliott. N.G. Bro. B. I£earney presided and at a suitablo moment made eulogistic reference to the esteem m which Mr. Elliott was held by fellow members and on tlioir behalf presented the guest of honour with a set of carvers. Musical honours were ihen accorded Mr. Eliott, who suitably responded, The evening was spent in dancing which continued till a late hour. Public Lecture. On Wednesday the 19th inst., farmers will have an opportunity of listening to an address on Denmark and the reasons for its continued success in. the dairying industry, delivered by Mr. W. Muller, who has an intimate and wide knowledge of his subject. Mr. Muller is travelling under the auspices of the W.E.A. and has already lectured in many other centres throughout the North Island.

APITI W.I.

A special meeting of the Apiti W.l. was held on Monday evening in the Oddfellows’ hall, tho occasion being a visit from Mrs. Harrison, of Pahiatua. The president (Mrs. AV. A. Churchill) introduced the demonstrator, who promptly plunged into the business of the evening and the gathering of over 60 ladies was at once oceply absorbed in studying the display of fascinating handcrafts of every kind. At the conclusion of the demonstration a hearty vote of thanks to Mrs. Harrison was carried with acclamation. Supper, folk dancing and singing concluded a happy evening. On Tuesday afternoon Mrs. Harrison gave individual instruction to Institute members in various handcrafts, a large number of members availing themselves of the opportunity. Members are reminded that there will be a folk dancing and singing practice on Wednesday nest at 1 p.m. and the conveners of the circles urge members to be present. Personal. Mrs. Harrison, of Pahiatua, has been the guest of Mrs. G. Souness during her stay in Apiti.
