Hockey Teams Entertained At Tea

After tlio hockey match at Dumie-' virko on Wednesday, when. Manawatu won the Nopora Cnp from Ruakine, both teams wero entertained to afternoon tea. Mr. W. Carson, chairman of the Buahine Ladies’ Association, welcomed the visitors, and congratulated the winners in annexing the JN opera Cup after it had been held by Ruakine since 1927.

The Ruahino players and officials sang ‘‘Tor They are Jolly Good hollows” with three cheers for the winners. Mr. Carson handed the cup to the captain of the Manawatu team, who expressed her pleasure in having the cup in her hands. Cheers were then called for the Ruahine team and officials.

Mr. Ranson, manager of tlio Manawatu team, in responding, voiced the thanks and appreciation of the team at the hearty welcome they had received and especially the splendid spirit that had prevailed during the match. Ho also expressed the hope that Ruahine would not be too anxious to go to Palmerston North to retrieve the cup. They would like to possess it for a littlo while, at any rate.
