Dannevirke Horticultural Society

ANNUAL MEETING The annual meeting of the Dannevirke Horticultural Society was held on Monday evening, the retiring president ,(Mr. H, Graham) presiding. The report and balance-snoot wotc adopted and it was resolved, on the suggestion of Mr. C. H. Thompson, that it be a recommendation to the committee to close tho bank account and transfer it to the Post Office Savings Bank, as a saving would be effected in adopting this suggestion. Officers for the ensuing year were elected as follows: Patron, Hon. E. A. Ransom, M.P.; president, Mr. H. Graham; vice-presidents, Messrs. G. F. Green, C. D. Blakiston, G. P. Alder, T A. Harbour, H. A. Bamford, C. H. Thompson, F. W. Graham, E. C. Dearman and Mrs. Ransom; treasurer, Mrs. P. M. Baker; auditor, Mr. C. H. Thompson; secretary, Miss Miller; committee, Mesdames E. Reynolds, P. Lascclles, 0. Ramsay, C. W. Thompson, P. M. Baker, J. A. Carlson, W. T. Gilbert, H. Graham, G. W. Prance, T. A. Harbour, L. Earl, E. 0. Dearman, W. A. Pickard; Messrs. F. IV. Smith, G, H. C Hussey, W. T. Gilbert, E. Williams, H. C. Erickson, P. Laseelles, J. L, Lloyd, T. Moir, T. Stanley, R. Boothby, It. Dryden and G. W. Prance. Messrs. T. A. Harbour, E. Williams, C. D. Blakiston, G. P. Green and Mesdames Ramsay, J. A. Carlson, P. M. Baker and *C. H. Thompson were appointed a sub-committee to revise the schedule for next year’s show. Mr. C. H. Thompson suggested that it be a recommendation to the committee to have the vegetable gardens, and even the flower gardens, judged twice annually. If the kitchen and flower gardens wero judged at Christmas time they would see the gardens probably at their best. The suggestion was referred to the committee. The president thanked members of the retiring committee for their services and assistance during the past season. He hoped to reseive the same co-opora-

tion from the committee in the coming year. The president then presented the trophies won last year, offering his congratulations to each recipient. The result of the competition was announced as follows: Mrs. S.'Maefarlane 1, J. B. Graham 2, Miss K. Miller 3. The meeting closed with tho usual votes of appreciation.
