Ovid’s Remains
BELIEVED DISCOVERY AT TOMI BUCHAREST, July 29. The remains of Ovid, the Roman poet of love, are believed to have been discovered during excavations at the ancient Greek seaport of Tomi, where Ovid spent his declining days. Profe'ssor" Braetescu, director of the excavations, unearthed what is believed to be Ovid's skull from a stone coffin, situated in a position such as would have been occupied by an important personage. He also found' a sarcophagus, supporting the belief that the remains are those of Ovid.
