New Chevrolet Announced

MANY IMPROVEMENTS INCLUDE LONGER WHEELBASE. Tasteful redesigning of tho body, particularly at the front end, lengthening of the wheelbase two 'inches, and a number of mechanical alterations to increase the usefulness of the vehicle, mark the new Chevrolet quality lino models placed on display Throughout New Zealand by General Motors, New Zealand, Limited. Tho keynote of the changes was expressed by Mr. W. McHardy Forman, Managing-Director, Who said:— “In producing tho 1931 Chevrolet the single purposo has been to make a car of such quality and refinement that its superiority will bo plainly visible. Each year has marked a definite advance in the Chevrolet car and 1931 is no exception.’’ Among the features of tho 1931 quality lino are:— Seven degree sloping windshield eliminating tho dancing confusion of light images reflected into tho driver’s eyes with tho ordinary straight windshield; quickly adjustable front seats; thirty-six inches of leg room in the front compartment and four springs of 180iu. total length, which amounts to 165 per cent, of tho wheelbase, an important feature in riding comfort and safety; try-on spring shackles which automatically tako up wear and eliminate squeaks and rattles and prevent sidesway and erratic stocring. And among mechanical features:— Gear ratio of 4.10 to 1, which with tho greater power of the Chevrolet engine gives better acceleration and flexibility; bore and stroko of 3-5/16 inches by 3J inches; piston displacement, 19.4 inches; displacement per cylinder, 32.3 cubic inches; three bearing crankshaft, weighing forty-eight ’ pounds, - with main beating area of 11.39 square inches; pump-pressure,fuel feed system from tank at the. rear. Electric gauge on the dash w r ith a double float in the tank to insure accurate gauge readings regardless of the motion of tho fuel.
