FIRE WAS STARTED IN EVERY ROOM
Kerosene-Soaked Furniture WHAT THE FIRE BRIGADE FOUND Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, Last Night. When fire brigadesmen entered a house in Norfolk Street this evening to which they had been called to quell the outbreak of fire they found unmtstfckeablc evidence that, the house harl been deliberately set on fire. The alarm urns first given by a boy who called at the house on an errand. When the firemen arrived they found tho fire had started in every room in the house. The beds had been saturated with keroneno which was also spilled on the floor. In the sitting room a mat and armchair had been soaked and both were burning. Clothes hanging on the. pegs in the hall were al=o soaked and burning. The timely arrival of tho brigade prevented tho destruction of the house and not much damage was done. The House was occupied by Robert Ihorripson Nirrio and owned bv Mrs B. J. Phillips, of Christchurch. The house was insured but tho furniture was not covered. Nobody was at homo when the outbreak occurred.
