Modern Efficiency

It is not so many years ago when a speed of 75 miles in the hour m a motor car was ail outstanding achievement for man and machine. This average speed has now been maintained day and night for over 416 hours, or IT days 8 hours 50 minutes, by a Voisin car driven by a relay of four French dnvers on the Montlhery track, near Paris. In the time stated the car travelled 31,250 miles—a remarkable demonstration of the efficiency of tie present-day automobile engine. In this connection it is interesting to note that the world’s greatest land record for -4 hours is 2724 miles by Messrs. Marehand, Morel and Kiriloff, established by a Voisin on the same track m 19M. The average speed on that occasion was over 113 miles per hour, but, of course, this drive was less than one-seven-teenth of the time of driving in the latest achievement.
