Lorry Goes Over Bridge

DRIVER’S FORTUNATE ESCAPE. TE AROHA, April 3. A heavy lorry owned by Messrs W. S. Goosmman and Company, Waitoa, and driven by Mr Charles Hill, of Waitoa, crashed through the side of a wooden bridge on the Ngarua Road yesterday and fell into the Waitoa river. The river is 10ft deep at this spot, and Mr Hill had some difficulty in freeing himself from tho cab. When he rose to the surface he was in a dazed condition, but quickly regained his senses and was able to rescue some ot the empty cream cans with which the lorry was loaded. When the vehicle was salvaged a puncture was found in the front tyre, which may have caused the accident.
