HEAVY LOSSES OF STOCK. WELLINGTON, April 4. Tlie following message has been re-

ceived from the postmaster at Karamea, Nolson:— “It has been blowing for 24 hours, a steady north-west wind. The Kafamea river flooded the district and the water was high from Thursday night until Friday night. “Water entered most of tho residences around. Market Cross and some in Karnmea.

“Considerable damage has been done to roads and private property and the loss of stock is heavy. Telephone lines are cut off.
