ROADS BLOCKED IN TWO PLACES. CARTERTON, April 4. Exceptionally wet Easter caused all the district rivers to rise rapidly. Floods were experienced everywhere and slips came. down. The Riinutaka Hill is blocked to traffic south. Tho Waingawa and Waiohine rivers are over the road blocking the road north.
The Taul>renikau river burst its banks and flooded portion of the Tauhcronikau racecourse, particularly the section containing the loose boxes and the accommodation house for jockeys, owners and trainers. A number of racehorses had to be removed to drier quarters.
A meeting of stewards of the Wairarapa Racing Club decided that, as access north and south is blocked and weather is still continuing wet, the races will be postponed till Monday- and Tuesday.
