Annual Sports Meeting Held at Kumeroa
PALMERSTON COMPETITORS IN GOOD FORM 1 The annual meeting of the KumeroaHopelauds Amateur Athletic Sports Club took place on Mr. Lovells property at Kumeroa on Saturday last before a very fair attendance of the public including the patron (Mr. A. McNicol, of Dannevirke). An excellent programme of athletic and horse events, also novelties, Highland dancing and children’s events, was put through in good time, the general arrangements as usual giving every satis; faction. Under the capable guidance of the president, Mr. G. B. DcAth, and tho efficient secretary, Mr. A. East, backed by the officials and stewards, patrons spent a most enjoyable day. The horso events produced better performances than soon at previous gatherings of the club and the same might bo said of tho athletic events, in which excellent times were registered. The judgo of the Highland dancing, Mr. Botliwell, of Mastorton expressed himself as particularly pleased with the standard of dancing, Inspiriting pipe music was provided by Mr. McCann, of Auckland. Tho officials were as follow:—Judges, Athletic, Messrs. W. Hutchins and B. H. Norman; horse events, Mr. A. Ayres; Highland events, Mr. Bothwell; handicapped Mr. G. Harris; starter, Mr. L.
