Foxton Rink Wins All Section latches

MANAWATU EASTER BOWLING TOURNAMENT CONTINUED. Tho Manawatu Centre’s Easter bowling toufnainont was continued on Saturday. The showers in the morning on top of the heavy rain overnight made the greens very heavy although they wero playing well under the . circumstances. Some surprise victories wore registered, due mainly to the variable state of the greens. In the afternoon the sun came through and conditions were very pleasant and some fine bowling was witnessed. Two of the most interesting matches of the day were those between Johnston (Terrace- End) and Hall (Carterton), the former winning by ono point at the end of an extra head, and that between Thompson, of Foxton, and Ramsay, of Palmerston North. The match was the longest of tho day and great excitomont reigned when Ramsay took the lead with but three heads to go. On the second to last head by brilliant bowling by all members of the rink, Foxton took the lead amidst spontaneous applause and were leading 17 —16. Tense excitement was evident among the crowd as on the last head despite the Palmerston rink's valiant effort, Foxton lay nearest to kitty to win the game and the section by reason of their six successive wins. Thompson, of Foxton, was tho winner of tho B section and will thus enter tho semi-final while in both the A and C. soctions there will be a play-off. In the former group Sparrow and Stuart who havo five wins and a loss each to their credit will meet, whilo in tho O section Radford and Moore with only one loss each will play off.
