Cruiser Pioneer Scuttled at Sea
END OF OLD-TIMER. United Press Association. —By Electric Telegraph. —Copyright. SYDNEY, Feb. 19. What was left of the old Australian cruiser Pioneer was towed to sea yesterday evening and scuttled. The vessel was built 32 years ago and was one of tho seven experimental typo, midway between a torpedo boat and a light cruiser, which failed to realiso tho expectations that were heldTho Pioneer, nevertheless, did groin work during tho war days. She assisted in tho work of destroying the German warship Konigsbcrg, and captured several merchantmen.
