It lies in a basin 1500 feet below the surrounding hills —“LI Alto’ on which is situated the highest golf course in tho world. Communication is by electric railway. Tho narno La Paz (“the Peace’’ commemorates the Peace of Ayacucho, signed after the battle which broke the power of Spain.
