Monthly Meeting of Plunket Society

Tho monthly meeting of the Palmcrstou North branch of the Plunket Society was held in the City Council chambers yesterday afternoon, Mrs. A. Coombs presiding. There were also present Mrs. L. H. Collinson, Mrs. G. S. Pcren, Mrs. A. E. Mansford, Mrs. L. A. Abraham, Mrs. T. J. Rodgers, Mrs. A. Langley, Mrs. 11. N. Watson, Mrs. VV. Bennett, Mrs. H. Sinclair, Mrs. H. B. Free and Mrs. M. Aitchison, hon. secretary.

Apologies for absence were received from Mrs. Fairbrother, Mrs. C. Small, Mrs. Miller, Mrs., J. H. Whyte and Miss McLagan. Tho president reported that £9l had been realised on Shop Day and while the objective had not been reached the result was considered most satisfactory by committee members.

Thanks were passed to all those who had assisted on shop day especially Messrs. A, Jackson and C. Page.

Sympathy was expressed with Miss McLagen in her enforced spell from her activities.

Correspondence from Central Council was dealt with.

Before tho meeting closed Mrs. Coombs extended the season’s greetings to the members, who extended the samo compliment to Mrs. Coombs.

On the motion of Mrs. Abraham, hearty thanks were accorded Mrs. Coombs by acclamation, for presiding over tho meetings throughout the year. Nurse’s Report. The nurse’s report for tho month was as follows: Number of visits to homos, 154; to office —adults, 796; babies, 660; older children, 117. Total visits to office, 1603. Number of now cases, 31. Registration letters and cards posted, 49; received and answered, 13. Parcels of clothing wero received from Mrs. L. Graham, Mrs. Stevens and Mr. Day.

Outstations. —Number of visits to Foxton, 4; to homes, 1. Visits to adults 56; babies, 40; older children, 32; total visits to office, 12S. Number of new cases, 1. Sales for the month—membership fees and donations (Mrs. Ellis, 10s; Mrs. Poole, £1; anon,, ss; collection box, 14s 6d), amounted to £4l 7s 4d.
