Jolly Surprise Party

Mrs. Coughlan’s residence, 153 Princess street, on Tuesday evening last, was the rendezvous of a surprise party, organised by Miss Dora Floyd. The self-invited guests had a most enjoyable time, and were royally entertained by Mr. Marcus Coughlan, who screened a movie picture production entitled “Hay Fever Time"; a stringed trio contributed items which wore greatly appreciated, the players being Miss K. Floyd and Mr. L. G. Loveday (banjos), Mr. J. Barnao (mandolin). Dance music was supplied by Misses Moira Coughlan, Jean Lampard, Iris Woodd and L. Turner. Among those present were Misses J. Lampard, L. Turner, D. Turner, M. George, I. Woodd, A. Munro, G. Wishcnewski, E. Wischenewski, F. Doherty, D. Floyd, K. Floyd and L. Floyd; Messrs. E. Sexton, K. Schlierike, R. Kells, J. Munro, A. Whittaker, A. Barber, G. Barber, W. Bates, F. Moore, L. Day, J. Barnao and L. G. Loveday. Competitions were very amusing. The winners being K. Floyd and J. Barnao; K. Floyd and E. Sexton. At an appropriate moment Mr. J. Barnao, bn behalf of Mrs. Coughlan, returned thanks ,and presented the hostess, Miss Dora Floyd, with a lovely bouquet. The singing of “For She's a Jolly Good Fellow” and “Auld Lang Syne” brought the evening to a close.
