Tho sheepskin sales, postponed from Thursday owing to tho sudden imposition of tho halfpenny export duty (which caused the scone in the Federal House), were held to-day at the wool exchange. Two catalogues were submitted and buyers offered a halfpenny less than last week. The entire offerings were consequently withdrawn. As the result of tho failure of the sales there will be no rnoro until January
France Urged to Retaliate Received Saturday, 2 a.m. SYDNEY, Dec. 19. The French Consul has cabled the French Government urging it to impose a special duty on Australian scoured wool as a retaliatory measure.
