Martindale Left Out
When the last mail lo band left England there was considerable discussion in Cumberland over the selection oniy as reserve for the county side of S. A. Martindalc, one of the front-row forwards of the British Rugby team which toured New Zealand and Australia. Martindalc turned out for his club almost as soon as be returned to England, and was reported to be as fit as ever. Since lie was first “capped” in the season of 1925-26 Martindalc had played in 25 county championship matches for Cumberland.
In the first two week-ends of play ia flic present cricket season in Transvaal, E. P. Nupen, one of the greatest bowlers on matting wickets that South Africa has produced, took 22 wickets at 6.81 runs a wicket. Then he suffered an injury to a knee which, at latest advices from South Africa, would keep him out of the game for some little time.
