HIGH SCHOOL ANNUAL PRIZEGIVING

From Our Own Correspondent. There was a largo attendance of parents and pupils at the Town hail on Wednesday evening when the annual prize-giving ceremony of the Dannevirko High School took place. The guest of the evening was Professor W. H. Gould, M.A., Professor of Education at Victoria University College, and with him on the stage were members of the Board of Governors, the principal and his staff, and chairmen of the primary school committees. Mr T. H. G. Lloyd (chairman of the Board of Governors), who presided, expressed his pleasure at the excellent attendance and introduced the two new members of the Board of Governors, Drs. W. Beedie and C.. S. Williams. The chairman also paid a warm tribute to three former members of the board, Messrs P. Craven, N. Webby and A. McNicol.- Apologies were read from the Hon. E. A. Ransom, Mr C. J. McLean, headmaster of the North school, and from Mr H. Hewitt, president of the Chambor of Commerce. The principal (Mr A. G. Tait) then presented his annual report and later the guest of the evening, Professor Gould, delivered a short address on education from a national aspect. His Worship the Mayor (Mr M. 13.
