Kopaue School Break-up
The Kopano School break-up took place yesterday under splendid weather conditions. Tho stormy wind and rain of the early week had caused many small anxious faces, but the clear sunshine just as quickly dispelled the worried looks. The break-up took tho form of a competitive games afternoon and was run by the pupils themselves. All senior pupils wero divided into two teams, captained by Tom and Bill Tutty respectively and competed for a series of games, dances and drill, points being added up after the final event. The captains had their teams drilled wbll and the result was most exhilarating and exciting. After the sports were over, the prizes for the year were given out ,the following being the list:— Attendance certificates: Margaret Morgan, Jean Hockley, Margaret Tutty, Jack Thomson, Robert Glasgow, Glyn Morgan, Harry Glasgow, Rebecca Tutty, Vadm&i Morgan, Holly Hill and Allan Hill. Sports certificates, won last March, presented at break-up: Margaret Morgan, 75yds at Sandon sports; Glyn Morgan, 100 and 150yds at Sandon sports; Iris Meager, 100 and 120yds, at Sandon sports; Leon Parsons, 50 and 75yds at Sandon sports; Margaret Morgan and Betty Jones, 75yds three-legged race at Feilding sports; Nellie Beattie, 50yds, Feilding sports; Molly Jones and Jeannie Glasgow, 75yds, 2nd' prize, three-legged race, Feilding sports; Nora O’Regan, Iris Meager, Glyn Morgan, Tom Leen, team of four for relay race, Feilding sports; Andrew Thomson 3rd in 75yds, Feilding; Harry Glasgow, 2nd in 50yds, Feilding; Jack Thomson, 2nd in 75yds, Feilding; Patricia Jones, 2nd in 50yds; Beryl Thomson, 3rd in 50yds; Iris Meager, 3rd in 100yds; Nellie Beattie, 3rd in 50yds, Darden Prentice, 3rd in 75yds sack race; Glyn Morgan, 3rd. in 100yds; Harry Glasgow, 3rd in 50yds; Darden Prentice and Bob Glasgow, 3rd in 100yds, three-legged race; all at Feilding sports. Agricultural certificates: ’Vincent Nix, Ist for mangel growing; William Tutty, 2nd for both maize and mango! growing; Tom Tutty, Ist for maize and 3rd for mangel growing. Oalf Club prizes—-Best reared calf: 2nd, Darden Prentice; 3rd, Jeffery Wall; v.h.c., Tom Tutty; h.e., Agnes Bennett. Best dairy type heifer: Ist, Agnes Bennett; 2nd, Molly Jones; 3rd, Leslie Morris; v.h.e., Tom Tntty; h.e., DaTden Prentice. Proficiency results—Proficiency: Leslie Morris, Glyn Morgan, William Tutty. Competency: Nora, O ’Regan, Tom Tutty. Class Prizes: Conduct—seniors: Iris Meager, Bob Glasgow; juniors, Ruth Bennett, Hamish Martin. v Diligence: Seniors, Leslie Morris, Betty Jones; juniors, Anleen Nix, Wilton Bennett. Popularity: Jeannie Glasgow, Bill Tutty. Sports: Tom Leen. General neatness, Agnes Bennett. Agriculture: Leslie Morris and VineenA Nix. Leaving school prizes: Nona OTtegaa, Tom Tutty, Bi® Tutty, Leslie Morris, Glyn Morgan. After the prize giving, afternoon tea arranged by the pupils, was dispensed, and proceedings closed by the singing of the National Anthem.
