Choir Member Honoured at Party
The choir of Cuba Street Methodist Church was entertained at supper by the Ladies’ Guild on Wednesday evening after the sacred cantata, Nativity of Christ” had been rendered. Opportunity was taken to farewell Miss Doris Morgan, a popular member, who is to bo married early in the New Year, and who will later reside m Suva. After supper, the tables for which were artistically decorated with Iceland poppies, tho Rev. J. D. McArthur explained the reason for the furthering. Tho choir appreciated the work and success of Miss Morgan, who had been among them for tho past six years, during which she had rendered loyal and willing service. Not only the choir, but the city of Palmerston North would be the poorer for Miss Morgan’s departure. Mr McArthur knew that she was “delighted to delight people with her wonderful gift.” Ic expressing the wish that Miss Morgan’s future life would be one 01. happiness, Mr. McArthur, on behalf of the choir, handed her a handsome solid leather travelling case and little Zcldu Harper presented her with a bouquet of sweet peas. Mr. H. T. Pitcher, choirmaster, conveyed liis thanks to Miss Morgan for her willing assistance. She had been a constant and reliable member whose love of good music had helped considerably, he said. Oa behalf of various sections of the choir, Mrs. T. Twiggc, Miss V. Hansen and Messrs. Perrin, Chilton and Ilatt expressed their gratitude of Miss Morgan’s splendid assistance to tho department of the church.
Miss Morgan said she appreciated the genuineness of the remarks. She had been taken by surprise and was grateful for the good wishes of the choir. Musical honours were accorded Miss Morgan.
