MANAWATU BEAT ASHHURST,
On Wednesday afternoon the Manawatu tennis team travelled to Ashhurst where it defeated the Ashhurst club by 11 sets to five. Ashhurst names arc mentioned first: —
Men’s singles.— N. Brewer lost to C. Eckhokl I—7; W. Driver lost to L. Wilkinson G—7, J. Searlc lost to L. Hughes 4 —7; J. Grammar lost to M. Mclvor I—7.1 —7.
Ladies' singles.—Miss Read lost to Miss Worrall 3—7; Miss Hickey lost to Miss McKenzie 3 —7; Miss Fenwick bcat Miss Turner 7—2; Miss Nesdale beat Miss Purton 7—3.

MANAWATU ASSN. COMPETITIONS
The following teams have bceil chosen to represent Palmerston North in their matches on Saturday:
Against Northern at Linton street: Mitchell, Sim, Eisitig, and Thorpe, the Misses Astle, Haggitt, Thompson and B. Rodgers. Against Whakarongo at W’kakarongo: Rodgers, Brydcn, Espiner and Young, tho Misses Heard, D. Rodgers, Edwards and B. McDonald. The latter team arc requested to be at Whakarongo in good time as there are not- many courts available. Will all who have not yet consented to pmy please communicate with Mr Watson, phone 7243.
