Wet Week-end Spoils Cricket and Bowls

Keen disappointment was felt in cricket circles in Palmerston city on Saturday when heavy rain fell during the latter part of the morning and early afternoon so as to render the ground unfit for play. This is the third successive week-end on which “King Willow’’ has been returned to the locker and the competitions,,, if commenced next Saturday, will be a month behind. It had been hoped that the Manawatu players would get in some solid practice in readiness for the Hawke Cup elimination game with Wairsrapa at Masterton at the end of the month, but it now appears likely that ihey will suffer from the early seasdn feeling. The Pennant bowling competitions in She city; were also postponed.
