Car and Train Collide in Wanganui
TWO LADIES INJURED Per Press Association, WANGANUI, Last Night. , A motor car collided with a train at a crossing this morning. The . car was carried 70 feet by the engine. The driver of the car, Mr. W. J. Gilbcrd, escaped injury, but Edna Crease and Gladys Jones, passengers, were injured. The former sustained a broken arm and collar bone, the latter bodily injuries. Both were admitted to th* hospital. Another Car Struck by Train AND DRIVER ESCAPES SERIOUS INJURY. Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, Last Night. James Stafford, a veterinary surgeon living at, Springston, suffered injuries to his head when his car was struck by the Christchurch bound express train at Dunsandcl at 4.30 tLtr.s evening. The car was passing over the level crossing when the train struck it, carrying' it 20 yards. Stafford was unconscious and received medical attention on the spot. Ho was brought, to Christchurch in the guard’s van and recovering consciousness was able to walk to tlie ambulance. He was admitted to the hospital.
