New Use for Petrol Tins

During the recent raids by Arabs on Jewish villages, the Palestine police seized all sworcls and daggers found on the raiders. Tt was found that instead of the jewelled handles and the polished blades usually associated with the tribesmen, portions of petrol tins were used for the sheaths and handles of most of the weapons. Cobblers’ knives with wooden handles are specially sharpened and pointed; a piece of metal is then cut from an empty petrol tin, fitted around the handle and welded. When the sheath has been similarly fitted with an armour coat, the tin is decorated with designs and inscriptions.
