SOCIAL CLUB From Our Own Correspondent. There was a large attendance to witness the conclusion of the points prizes contest at the usual weekly meeting of tho Social Club. The prizes for the most games for the evening went to Mrs. C. W. Liggins with 19i games and Mr. K. Thomson with ISC The consolation awards went to Mrs. E. A. Buchanan and Mr. ' L. Craig. A very dainty supper was served, after which Mr. W. J. Amies announced tho points prizes winners as follows: Mrs. M. Bower, with 1841 points, and Mr, T .Fraser, 184 points. Miss M. Liggins and Mr. J .Liggins were runners-up with 17d anil 181 points respectively. Farewell The lion go tea Women’s Institute held an afternoon on Wednesday, when one of tho members, Miss Jean McDonnell, who is leaving tho district, was iarewellcd. There was a large attendance and Mrs. A. J. Will (president), on behalf of those present ,asked Miss McDonnell to accept a handsome handpainted powder bowl as a token <>t regard. Miss McDonnell suitably responded. A very dainty afternoon tea was served, after which musical games were engaged in and the following items were rendered: Pianoforte duet, -Misses A .Burgess and A. Trenkncr; song, Miss W. Hurdsfiehl; recitation, Miss E. Rose. A competition was won by Miss A .Hunt. The afternoon was brought to a close with the singing of “Auld Lang -Sync” and the National Anthem. Personal Mr. and Mrs. W. Sandercock have been paying a round of visits in the Hawke’s Bay district. Mrs. H. Heath, of Whangarci, is at present the guest of Mrs. F. Burgess.
