The Daily Mail’s Nice correspondent says that Major Coats, a member of tho cotton and thread linn, was playing baccarat against the open bank stakes of £4.000 and left the table to got refreshments. He instructed the croupier to continuo £4OOO bets till he returned. He fell into conversation with a friend, forgetting tho time, and when he returned he found he owed £60,000.
