Obituary
MR. WILLIAM CHGWEN. The many friends of Mr William Chowcn, of Botanical road, Palmerston North, will learn with regret of his death which occurred suddenly in Wellington on Saturday evening. Mr Ohowen left, for Wellington in the afternoon and was apparently quite v/cll whon ho arrived at a relative’s residence in the evening but quite suddenly collapsed and died. Mr Chowcn was 72 years of ago and was born in England. Coming to New Zealand as a boy the deceased gentleman was a well known farmer first at Marton and later at Raunrai, Okato, To Roti (Taranaki) and Colyton. In 1919 Mr Chowen moved to Aokauterc where he resided until 1925 when he came to reside in Palmrston North. Tho late Mr Chowcn was a trustee and office-bearer of the Cuba Street Methodist Church, being a very energetic worker in all the church activities. During the morning service the Rev. J. D. McArthur made reference to tho passing of Mr Chowcn, a resolution of sympathy to the relatives being carried by tho congregation standing in silence. The funeral will bo conducted by the Rev. McArthur at Karori cemetery, Wellington, to-morrow.
