From Our Own Correspondent. A concert was given in the Wood* villa Methorist Church on Monday evening in connection with the church anniversary. Congratulatory speeches were given by Rev. R. E. Fordyco, Ashhurst-Bunnythorp-c, Rev. Pickering, Pahiatua, and Ensign W. Knight, Salvation Army. The annual report was read by Mr John Harding. A very fine programme was given and greatly appreciated by all present. Tho choir, under Mr Fred Lawn, contributed various anthems and the following ladies and gentlemen also contributed their quota to the programme: Mr Boyens, Mr Worboys, Mrs. McQueen, Miss Collister, Mr. Greaves, Mrs. E. A. Smart, Mt Lowte.

After the programme the ladies of the congregation supplied a very dainty supper. Personal In the report of the Women’s Institute afternoon, which appeared in yesterday’s issue, Mrs. E. A. Smart’ls name was omitted from the list .of those who took part in tho play reading. Mr F. do Malmanahe is at present ■on holiday at Picton. Mrs. (Rev.) G. W. Davidson is visiting North Auckland. • " f The fir© siren sounded an alarm, at 2.45 a.m. yesterday morning, when an old unoccupied house in Ross street, owned by Mr J. White and which had previously been burnt, was found to be again on fire Th© brigade turned out promptly and suppressed the outbreak. ‘ Hockey. A Woodville, team journeyed to Hukanui to play the home team and were successful in defeating Hukanui by 6 goals to 1. The scorers for Woodville were Hutchinson (4), Rendl© (1), and Strand (I).’ The visitors were entertained ,at afternoon tea and this, in view of the very' cold weather prevailing, was greatly appreciated. ■]'' ,riIndependent Order of Rechabites.

The half-yearly meeting of the above Order (Hope of /TjJTqodville. Tent) oil Monday evening in' the Foresters' hall was presided over by Bro. J. M. Worboys, C.R. There was a largo attendance—... members. The election of officers resulted as fpllows:— Chief Ruler, Sister f. J. Leach; Deputy C.R., Bro. E. Dew; secretary, Bro. L. H. Rendle; treasurer, Bro. E. J. Harding; Levite, Sistfer M. Sutherland; Guardian, fero. R. Reid; pianist, Sister E. McKinlay; juvenile superintendents, Sister Leach and Bro. S. J. Worboys; -past C.R., Bro. J. M. Worboys. . Tho half-yearly report, which wai presented, indicated that the Order H in a flourishing condition.

Sister Leach is the first "lady.<'member to occupy' the chief ruler’s chait iit the Tent and was congratulated by the members’ on ‘the 'honour ‘cduferred upon her, _ . -
