Old Scholars Help To Keep Eton Rural
GUARDING THE CGELEGE ETON, April 5. To prevent the rural district near Eton College from falling into the hands of speculative builders owing to the rapid development of the industrial town of Slough, Eton College authorities have concluded the purchase of about 1300 acres of land at a chst of more than £IOO,OOO. In order to realise the-amount of the purchase price, the provost, Dr. M. KJames, on behalf of the governing body, sent out an appeal to between 9000 and 10,000 old Etonians, calling 'for aid to bring to a successful conclusion a transaction so vitally necessary to the welfare of the school.
