Marconi From Far Genoa’ Turns on Sydney Lights
RADIO EXHIBITION. SYDNEY, March 27. The lights of the Radio Exhibition in tho Sydney Town hall were switched on wirelessly by Marcheso Marconi from his yacht Elettra in Genoa harbour. Tho Marcheso spoko briefly congratulating Australia on its first telephonic communication with Italy. Marconi’s Prediction of Power Transmission. ENORMOUS POSSIBILITIES ROME, March 26. There was a tense moment in the Elettra’s crowded cabin when Marcheso Marconi pressed the telegraph key and awaited the voico from Sydney announcing that the lights had been turned on at the Radio Exhibition in tho Town hall. The Marc hose’s face was wreathed in smiles. He said that tho success of tho experiment was particularly important, as it pointed to tho time when, electric power would bo transmitted direct through the air in any direction and in the quantity desirod. Tho interesting disclosure is made that after the Elettra ceremony, tho Marcheso Marconi, listened to wireless telephonic experiments between Australia and Rugby, which were audiblo to everyone aboard.
